perfect stranger

the world news with Charles Gibson tonight had a reporter asking perfect strangers where their clothes were made. it seems that clothes made in foreign countries prices are linked to how well our economy is doing. but that isn't what I wanted to talk about really, i want to know where ABC news or anyone else for that matter, found perfect strangers. I don't know about you but I'm not perfect and I don't think I've ever met a perfect person. I will say I am a bit stranger than most. maybe even perfectly strange.

Obama and Hillary are at it..again..it's almost enough for this life long democrat to vote....gulp!!..oh i just can't say it!

who is your hero?

i have a severe profound hearing loss, so i guess it shouldn't surprise anyone when i say that my hero is helen kellerr.she lived an extraordinary life despiste being both blind and deaf in an age that was not disable-friendly.it was her determination that inspired me the most. she inspired me to find different ways to accomplish some of my goals,to see that my biggest obstical was how i percieved myself as a hard of hearing person in a hearing world. you are what you think you are and you can accomplish just about anything you set out to accomplish. within reason of course, we all have things we're not suited for.

got drugs?

i have a question, why does the FDA try to frighten people away from natural remedies and vitamines by using scary sound warnings about the hazzards to one's health, while allowing the pharmacutical companies to blast us with ads for their drugs that include such side effects as lymphoma, heppatitis,tuburculous and posible death?
in my opinon it's because natural remedies cannot be patented and so no one company can makes scads of moneyby manufacturing and marketing them to television audiances. my health insurance will not cover any type of alternative treatment for chronic pain even though they were extremly helpful to me in the past, even allowing me to continue work for several months longer. they will however provide me with pain medications with some very unacceptable side effects. because of my other health problems there are drugs that mess up my balance to the point that i fall more offten. but alternative tretments aint allowed!!!

ok my mini rant is finished, but it is something to ponder these last cold winter nights, sitting in front of the fireplace watching tv ads for killer drugs...

ummm..i'd like to give a shout-out to the new york giants! i watched the supper bowl commercials, most of them stunk, and i had the sound off so i wasn't really sure who'd actually won the football game. oh well better late than never i always say....yay giants.

meditate

one of my favorite meditations is the prayer of st. francis.
lord, make me an instrument of thy peace.

o divine master, grant that i may not so much seek

for it is giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned
it is by dying to self that we are born into eternal life.

a few months ago i rediscovered the 'benefits' of meditating. i also started keeping a 'gratitude journal' and i highly recomend this as a way to begin changing your thoughts from negative to posative. we are what we think and say.

mini political rant

what i am hoping for in our new president. i want a president that will be honest and willing to share information. a president that does not opperate under a cloak of secrecy. the united states is a government of, by and for the people, i think it is past time for our elected officals to start listening to us again. i want a president that will follow the consitution and uphold the bill of rights. i want a president that does not misuse their power by evesdropping on inocent citizens, one who will follow up on reports of emmenit terrorist attacks prior the attack. i want a president who acctually works for the better good of u.s. citizens. and finally, i want a congress who will head the call for impeachment if the president overreaches for power and engages in subtrifuge and or intimidation to get what ever they think they want. the consitution does not allow the president to have the power to do just anything they have a mind to. laws must be obeyed, procedures that are already in place must be followed.think we have a candidate that might fill the bill? i don't know.

on a lighter note, the days are getting longer! spring is surely not far away now. i've been studying my seed catalogs trying to decide what i want to plant in my garden this spring. so many wonderful plants and so little yard to plant them in!
