A Stepen King marathon

recently i picked up some new(to me) Stephen King books at Better World.com my fave bookstore on the web.(there's a link to better world in the sidebar...check it out..you'll be glad you did!) I really enjoyed all three books, Bag of Bones, Insomnia, which reminds me a little bit of "It" and Danse Macabre.
It is Danse Macabre that I want to comment on.In the chapter titled "The Modern American Horror Movie" King mentions "the Little Shop of Horrors" produced by Roger Corman which Mr. king Believes not even notable as one of Jack Nicholson's earliest films.(pg 190) It reminded me of watching this on "Monster Movie Matinee with my mom and older sister and what ended up being a family joke for awhile.
We had recently moved into a large drafty farm house. The house itself was kind of spooky. It is an early November Saturday with the wind kicking up driving rain and sleet into the windows. Dad was at work so it was just mom and Sissy and me home that day. Mom made a pot of split pea soup for lunch. We sat in the living room eating soup watching The Little Shop Of Horrors. When the plant starts telling the young guy..."feed me....I'm hungry!" mom starts laughing! I'm only eight or nine years old at the time and I don't really understand why she's laughing at this people eating plant.I think it just struck her funny because at the time the plant says its line mom had a spoonful of soup on the way to her mouth.Just shows to go ya on what makes a film memorable! I still think of this occasionally on rainy stormy Saturdays while eating split pea soup.
